On June 5, the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration published a notice in the Federal Register titled Hazardous Materials: Notice of Actions on Special Permits.

This notice provides information on which special permits PHMSA has recently granted, denied, or were withdrawn. The Journal has indexed those notices and provides these indexes to readers in an easy-to-read format that provides direct links to the approved permits. As a new feature, The Journal will be providing exclusive comments on select special permits of note as they are issued by PHMSA.

Of note is permit 21046-N granted to CSX Transportation, Inc. Due to its similarity to an earlier permit issued to BNSF, readers are suggested to read PHMSA Issues Electronic Shipper Papers Special Permit for Rail Transportation by Technical Advisor Rick Bornhorst.
