As announced in HazMat Alert 24 on April 24, 2020, the upcoming in-person sessions of the United Nations Sub-Committees have been cancelled. The Sub-Committee of Experts on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (UNSCEGHS) has been rescheduled to December 9 to 11, 2020, and the Sub-Committee of Experts on the Transport of Dangerous Goods (UNSCETDG) has been rescheduled to be held from November 30 to December 8, 2020.

The deadline for submission of documents has been correspondingly pushed back. UNSCETDG: September 4, 2020. UNSCEGHS: September 10, 2020.

Yesterday, June 1, the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced in the Federal Register that in lieu of physical conferences, it will hold a virtual public meeting in early July 2020 in advance of the upcoming 39th session of the UNSCEGHS. OSHA, along with the U.S. Interagency GHS Coordinating Group, plans to consider the comments and information gathered at this public meeting when developing the U.S. Government positions for the UNSCEGHS meeting.
